How this tool works

Daily delivery is limited by spare solar after losses, available capacity after reserve and fade, and later use. Avoided import costs have export credits forgone and the entered annual fee subtracted. Seasonal mode uses 182 winter days and 183 summer days. Weighted time-of-use prices are an approximation, not interval simulation.

Simple payback divides installed cost by first-year net saving; the longer-term balance allows for the entered capacity fade. Finance, replacements, changing tariffs, maintenance, VPP rewards and grid charging are excluded.

Sources

In this example, spare solar after losses is 10.8 kWh, capacity after reserve is 12 kWh and electricity used later is 10.5 kWh. The smallest, 10.5 kWh, is the daily delivery.

Three limits. One useful amount of energy.

Daily delivery in this example:

10.5 kWh

Worked example: 12 kWh spare solar at 90% round-trip efficiency, a 15 kWh battery with a 20% reserve, and 10.5 kWh later use. The smallest limit is 10.5 kWh delivered per day.
