How this tool works

Daily energy is average electrical power in kW multiplied by hours. Multiply by the electricity rate, then by the number of days. Use electrical input, not a heater’s rated heat output. Cycling and inverter appliances may draw less than the maximum rating. Supply charges are excluded.

3 kW of electrical power, running for 2 hours, uses 6 kWh of energy — the total you pay for.

Power is the pace. Energy is the total.

The total to pay for

Use electrical input, not a heater’s heat-output rating.

Worked example only: a constant 3 kW electrical load running for two hours uses 6 kWh. A real appliance may cycle or vary its input.
